What Could Be The Small Lump At The Side Of The Breast Which Hurts?
My girlfriend was havin problems breathing and complaining about her chest hurting so I was rubbing her chest with some Vicks vapor rub that usually helps but while I was rubbing her chest I felt a knot it's on her left side close to her breast but not on it. When ever I touch it she says it hurts really bad. What could that be???
Hello and welcome to HCM, The lump on the side of the breast could be due to lump breast, lymph node enlargement or swelling on the chest wall. The lump needs to be investigated. An ultrasound of the region can determine the origin and certain characteristics of the lesion. Thereafter an aspiration cytology of the lesion can be done. I this investigation, cells are aspirated with a needle, spread on glass slide and stained with appropriate stains. These cells are examined under the microscope. This investigation will determine the origin and character of the lesion. The further work up will be determined by the result of the investigation.
