son diagnosed with carcinoid syndrome 4 years ago,spread to the liver,bones with the primary site in the lung. upper left lob was lobe was removed and he has been treated with sandostatin LAR which at first relieved of the diarrhea. Took part in a clinical trial with systemic yttrium-90 in 2007-2008.Had a good clinical response but the improvement was short lived and has been treating with a large variety of chemotherapy regimens. These treatments also lasted for a time and oral chemo drugs were then given but he could not tolerate them so they were discontinued.Lutecium-177 was suggested and he had 1 treatment in February 2011 but became very ill with severe diarrhea and vomiting, was very dehydrated and hs been in and out of the hospital since February until June. It s been a little over a month since he was released from the hospital and it was suggested that he have TPN feeding for 12 hours every day along with IV fluids to keep him hydrated. Has lost a lot of weight and the diarrhea is now chronic as he is going continously especially when he is hooked up to the TPN at nights. Have tried just about everything to stop the diarrhea but without success. Looking for any suggestion as to what can be administered to slow down or stop the diarrhea as he is thinking about taking the other treatments of LU-177. YYYY@YYYY
