What Causes Stomach Cramps After Taking Postinor?

Dear doctor, please I had unprotected sex almost three weeks after a medical abortion but he didn't cum inside me. I took Postinor 2 anyway. And I've had menstrual like cramps(almost painful) for the past nine days. Please I want to know what the cause could be?

Hi,

Abdominal cramps, nausea following emergency contraceptive can be rare but is possible.Generally such abdominal cramps are mild and will reduce in the next few days. In case of persisting abdominal pain or cramps for many days, I would suggest you to visit your doctor to rule out any ectopic pregnancy. A pelvic ultrasound may be required to identify ectopic gestation and it requires immediate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
