What Causes Stabbing Pain And Itching In The Anus?

I have a stabbing, itchy pain in my anus. Inner, but just inside. I can t tell if it s swollen or not, but the pain is enough to wake me up/keep me awake. I haven t been able to poo for three days, despite trying. I had diarrhea earlier this week, for two days prior to the pain. What can I do for the pain, and what is wrong?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Pain an itchiness in the anal region could be due to hemorrhoids or piles, pin worm infection, sphincter problems etc.
A history of inability to pass stools and diarrhea requires colonoscopic examination of the lower gastrointestinal tract.
Alternating diarrhea and constipation can occur in number of conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, growth in the colon etc.

Thanks and take care
