What Causes Soreness, Fuzziness And Sensitiveness In Ear?

My right ear feels sore, fuzzy, sensitive. The pain is centered inside the external auditory canal or perhaps the ear drum itself? It s strange because it s just my right ear, my left ear feels fine. This has been going on for about a week now. When I move my head or tilt my head I can almost feel/hear a slight hum as in blood pumping in my right ear.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about having soreness, fuzziness and sensitivity in the right ear, feels pulsation in right ear on bending head.
All these symptoms are suggestive of an inflammatory changes which can be due to the following reasons:
Otitis Externa wherein there is inflammation of the skin attached to the bone not allowing space to expand causing pain and pulsations as you have explained.
Granuloma formation.
Severe otitis media in which there is collection of fluid inside ear drum in middle ear cavity sometimes separating the skin also.
Glomus jugulare tumor.
This can be best diagnosed by ear endoscopy and aided by CT scan fo the affected area.
As per the findings your Doctor or ENT Surgeon would stat you on an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory with painkiller properties to control the problem.
Severe otitis media can be resolved well by a small surgery of myringotomy to evacuate the pus.
Further management as per the findings.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
