What Causes Sore Throat After Having Cold?

Hi. I had flu like symptoms (fever, back aches, headaches, sneezing, sore throat, coughing up yellow mucus, etc) starting ten days ago. I went to the doctor and she said I had a common cold and my symptoms would go away in 2 weeks. She did not put me on antibiotics. About 4 days ago, my symptoms went away and I began to feel better; however, although I do not have a sore throat any more, I now feel like I have 3 lumps in the back of my throat (one in the center, on the left, and on the right hand side). It hurts when i swallow and they seem to come and go throughout the day. What can this be? Will it go away?
