General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome to HCM.
I appreciate your concern for the sleepiness while taking medication for thyroid problem.

Apparently you are being treated for Hypothyroidism with Levothyroxine tablets the dose of which seems to be inadequate.

If the dosage of the Levothyroxine is inadequate the signs and symptoms of Hypothyroidism like sleepiness, fatigue, weakness, constipation, cold intolerance, etc appear.

I advice you to consult your treating doctor to check the thyroid function tests particular TSH level which help in adjusting the correct dose of levothyroxine. TSH level should be in the range of 0.4 - 4 mIU/L while taking Levothyroxine.

TSH level should be evaluated at least 4 - 6 weeks after an adjustment in the Levothyroxine dosage.

Hope to have answered your query.

A feed back is appreciated.
