Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain Under Rib Cage And Breathing Difficulty?
I have a real sharp pain under my ribcage, ive had it for about 4 days now. I have taken ranitide and paracetamol but nothing stops it. today it has eased off but ive just eaten and the pain has come back. it hurts to breathe in and if i push under my ribs its really tender
As due to acidity there might be a compression over the primary muscle of respiration the diaphragm. Which may lead to increase the intrathoracic pressure and the pain in the ribs due to muscle spasm.
As you taking ranitidine I will advise to consume more water in a day and also use hot water fermentation over the upper abdomen and lower abdomen along with the hot water fermentation over the rib cage. This will help create a warming effect and ease the pain.
Do deep breathing exercise to help improve the strength of the primary muscle of respiration the diaphragm.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
