What Causes Severe Leg Pain With Pitting Edema?

I have had extensive cardio and pulmonary testing in the last 30 days with all tests being pretty much normal with the only finding was premature articular and atrial responses during reading of holter monitor. I was experiencing chest pain and sob upon exertion along with pitting edema. had shoulder surgery in jan. 2014 followed by theses symptoms and had a elevated d dimer and suspected pe but was diagnosed with pneumonia... my questions is I still have severe pain in legs with pittinge dema in shins...had a negative dvt when I had ct scan for pe which then was pneumonia...what could be causing so much leg pain... my daily meds are oxycontin,oxcodone apap,diazide,flexiral.baby aspirin and vit d

The pain in the legs with pitting edema with normal cardiac investigations is likely to be due to muscle related pathology like yositis or muscle cramps. Serum electrolytes also need to be evaluated.
