Could Pain In Stomach, Breathless And Fatige Be Due To Enlarged Liver?

My daughter is have pains high in her stomach with shortness of breath and fatigue. they did blood test and a CT scan. found an enlarged liver and elevated D dimer blood count. they told her to wait a week if not feeling better they would test her D dimer again. Now it has been a week after she had the second test and no one has called back with the results. what questions should we start asking? She had cervical cancer once but after the procedure it has not returned. She also has an Uncle that died at 35 of a heart attack. would either of these be connected to her D dimer or enlarged liver?

Hi,

Level of D Dimer is raised in case of liver cirrhosis and gradually increases with increased dysfunction of liver in severity. Also, increased level of D DIMER is seen in cases of presence of ascites with liver cirrhosis. The increase in level of D Dimer is influenced by amount of Ascites present. Its level starts decreasing with resolution of Ascites. Increased D Dimer level with absence of Ascites in a case of liver cirrhosis is usually seen in Hepato-cellular carcinoma of liver.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
