What Causes Severe Anxiety Disorder Along With Paranoia And Panic Attacks?

alright, you remind me of my old pediatrician. I suffer from PTSD, too complicated to get into here, but am also the primary care giver to my dying mother, and we live with my older brother who molested me when I was young. I rely on anti anxiety meds to get through this. I am 48, in good health, though overweight. I am 5 9 260 pounds, some fat but a lot of muscle. Today was a particularly trying day so I took 10 mg valium, 1.5 mg klonopin sublingual, .3 mg clonodine, 3 mg xanax and am on 75 mg of rx methadone a day. I am tempted to take another .3 mg clonodine though. I have the tolerance of a horse. i have tried to overdose and taken doses that would kill most people by I just keep on plugging away. I have strong faith and believe God will call me in his own time regardless of my actions. How long should I wait for these pills to kick in to see if I should take more the PTSD gives me generalized anxiety disorder with symptoms of paranoia and severe panic attacks. What do you think doc?

Since you are already undergoing physical Dear
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern & following is symptomwise approach:

1. since you are already under medications thus you should consult with your health care professional for CBT [cognitive behavioral therapy] to identify and counteract negative thoughts.

2. Because panic attacks are repeatable [argument situations] which means you feel endangered and unable to escape which means there is ‘fear of fear’ i.e. vicious anxiety- panic attack- anxiety cycle, thus before taking panic attacks to be due to anxiety or depression make sure you have ruled out following medical conditions like overactive thyroid, low blood glucose, use of excess caffeine, cocaine, amphetamines or heart problem.

PS. practice relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation [which you are doing] but also Pranayam [anulom vilom] which will strengthen the relaxation response of body as opposite to stress response during panic attacks, [i.e. hyperventilation], don’t try to flee away from the situation which will reinforce the perception that your panic attacks are unbearable [remember they are uncomfortable but not life threatening], allow the symptoms to pass and you will gain ability to cope with them

· Under normal circumstances during Stress our flight and fight system of body is activated which results in muscle contraction and relaxes after the stimuli is gone but in cases where stress [anxiety] is extensive the muscle contraction is for lengthy period resulting in pain, discomfort [stretching Yoga poses [Dhanurasana, Matsyasana, Janu Shirsasana, Paschimottanasana, Hastapadasana], hot shower and massage are simple techniques to overcome muscle tension from anxiety] same goes with muscles of the face [facial tension] during Anxiety

4. Since the said problems can be grouped under GAD [generalized Anxiety disorder],  Dietary Regime and Lifestyle management along with Medicine is initiated according to “manovaha srotas vyadhi”

5. Avoid: alcohol, pepper, garam masala, mustard oil, pickles, rye, spicy food, anger, grief, fear, late night waking, garlic, ginger, onion

Take: mint, coriander, tomato, and cumin, plenty of water, vitamins and mineral supplements, apple, banana, grapes, dates

6. Lemon juice mixed with sugar in a glass of water helps release stress removing hormones from the body and bring mind at peace/rest. And eat 2 spoons coriander [Dhaniya] seeds with 2 spoons of sugar candy [mishri]

7. Apple, almond, banana, broccoli, cantaloupe, melon, carrot, cashew nut, corn, cauliflower, grapes, guava, lemon, mango, orange, pineapple, soybean, spinach have anti oxidant and detoxifying properties so take them in plenty.

8. Prescription drugs and procedures available for your problems are: sarpagandha, khus, jatamansi, bramhi, kevada, vacha, tagar, amla, smriti sagar ras, mahakalyanak ghrita, manasmitra vatkam, prabhav vati, mann medhya vati,Ashwagandharishta, sarasvatarishta, stresscom, nasya karma
