What Causes Recurring Lump Near Earlobe?

I have these recurring small lump somewhere near the back of my earlobes as if there's a little ball just underneath the skin. It either "grows" (but I don't think it's visible) sometimes on my left, sometimes on my right earlobe. Most of the time it's a bit painful if I give it a little squeeze. I probably get it atleast once a year.
