What Causes Recurring Hives?

My child has had hives appearing and disappearing for a couple of days. Pediatrician saw him today and said it is probably viral. Prescribed Prednisone. Tonight his groin area broke out in hives and his testicle area appeared red and swollen. Any ideas?

The most common cause of recurrent hives is allergy. The main task would be to identify what the cause is. It could be food, a new cosmetic product, dress, environment, etc. Look around and see if there is just anything new that may be able to justify this.
