What Causes Recurrent Vaginal Irritation?

I am a 19 year old female and I have some concerns. I have no STDs whatsoever as I have had dozen STD tests done over the course of the years, but, I still have recurrent vaginal irritation around the inside of my vaginal hole. My gyn said that I have a yeast infection and atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance. I was wondering: are these atypical cells causing my vaginal irritation? If the yeast is causing irritation then why has my irritation been recurrent for over 2 years already? Do you think they are sure that the yeast and the abnormal cells are what is causing my vaginal irritation? And does having atypical squamous cells mean I have HPV?
