What Causes Proctitis?

I was diagnosed with proctitis about 2 years ago. It seems to me something in my diet is causing it even though my gastroenterologist says diet dosen't matter with proctitis. I have been using Splenda for sometime now trying to reduce calorie intake and I use about 2-3 pkgs. a day plus I eat yogurt that has Splenda in it. I have recently quit using it for about 3 days and it seems it is gradually getting some better. I was having bleeding with bowel movements and pain. Bleeding has almost stopped. Also it seemed it was making me gain weight and I felt fatigued and bloated all the time. Is it possible the Splenda is to blame?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, of the diet is nothing to do anything with the proctitis but it is the inflammatory condition and it could be due to infection, if it is the constipation then it may cause the proctitis though it is very less likely condition, beside this it can be idiopathic (No medical reason is there ) malignancy, trauma, and other, treatment is based upon the underlying cause hope this information helps.
