What Causes Persistent Vomiting?

my daughter is twenty and has started vomiting, she has been to A and E they did a heart test, blood test, urine test, they said she will have to see doctor for camera down her stomach, she has uni exams, why did not A and E admit her into hospital, she has been vomiting for three weeks, one doctor said it was a chest infection, an x ray showed she was alright, she is coughing, all the time, could it be an ulcer, or appendicitis , I looked up Internet and they said Manuka Honey works, surely they should admit her, but it is Bank Holiday now, we are getting worried

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Vomiting for three weeks in a girl of twenty indeed needs admission for clinical evaluation, examination, and further investigations like upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy, CT scan of the abdomen, CT scan of brain and tests of blood for liver functions, kidney function, thyroid functions and so on. Also needed is to have a symptomatic treatment.
Intravenous fluids.
Domperidone to control vomiting.
PPI like Omeprazole
Antacids.
If all the investigations are within normal limits, then psychological evaluation too may be needed. Urine pregnancy tests may be needed if there is any history of exposure or if she is married.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
