General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The commonest causes of persistent cough and pain in the chest are as follows:
Irritation in throat due to allergy or granular pharyngitis.
Respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, allergic lung problem.
The persistent coughing in turn causes chest muscle strain causing chest pain.
Other causes can be pleurisy.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Consult your Doctor first for preliminary examination and symptomatic treatment.
Insist for investigations of blood, X-ray chest to start with.
These findings may give a clue for diagnosis and management.
If this fails then get a referral for a Pulmonologist and get investigated, evaluated and treated as per the cause found.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
