Hello and welcome to health care magic.
I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.
PCo is associated with different
hormonal abnormalities and they cause
irregular periods or absent periods. In the normal menstrual cycle, the first few days have high estrogen hormones to allow ovum to develop and uterine lining to grow, later
progesterone hormone increases after the ovum is released that is ovulation and then when level of both hormones decrease periods occur. All this does not occur in PCO. The bleeding that occurs may be due to sustained high levels of estrogen for
prolonged periods and bleeding occurs when the uterine lining can no longer grow under the influence of these hormones.
Meprate is similar to progesterone and it causes the uterine linig to shrink slightly. When meprate is stopped, the levels of progesterone decrease producing an environment in the body similar to the pre menstrual state ans periods come.
In your case you had bleeding within 2 hours of meprate single dose. This is not due to meprate. Most likely the bleeding was coming by itself and taking the meprate tablet was a coincidence.
Please get a hormonal testing done on day 1-2 of menses to understand the problem and which hormone is most affected and continue treatment accordingly. Also other measures like
weight loss, low fat and sugar diet,
meditation and yoga and
pregnancy help to restore hormonal imbalance and control the disease.
I understand that the reply is a bit long and technical but it is important that you understand the issue so that you take proper treatment.
I hope that I was able to answer your queries.
Have a good day.
