What Causes Pain Under The Breast?

I notice that the symptoms listed do not include something that is happening to me. Sorry, but right under my left breast, I am having severe pain under the skin. Comes and goes. I was just wondering if this is one of the symptoms of internal shingles. It is very painful at times - I have had a little on the left side also, very concerned about this and wondering if I should go ahead and see my doctor about it. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you have had previous episodes of shingles, then the current cause for the pain is likely to be Post-herpetic neuralgia. It is caused by damaged nerved causing pain sensation.

Management is with nerve pain medications like Gabapentin. Please be advised to follow up with your primary provider for confirmation of diagnosis and necessary management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
