What Causes Pain In Upper Portion Of Arm While Moving?

I have pain in my upper back portion of my right arm. When I try to lift my arm or move it backwards, it causes pain. It is also difficult to sleep. This has been occurring in the last couple of days. I cannot recall doing any strenuous or repetitive activity that would have strained the muscles or tendons in that area.

Hi,

Most common cause is muscle strain. Pain while sleeping or lying down is pointing towards compressed nerve, over use of muscles and muscle tear. Also, given such symptoms when moving arm. Contact the nearest physiotherapy professional.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
