What Causes Left Sided Chest Pain Sometimes Radiating To Back?

I have been experiencing a nagging , squeezing dull pain in the left side of my chest for a few months now. I have noticed it more frequently in the past month. It happens more frequently when I am active, working ect...lately it happens at rest. It also sometimes spreads partly to the right side, and a few times clear to my back, but mostly left sided. It causes me to have anxiety. I have a doctor appointment in a month where I intend to get a full work up, but I am starting to be afraid to wait. Could this be a precursor to a heart attack. I am a 53 year old obese woman.

Hello
In spite of this that this pain , particularly on the left side , in the chest , more due to exertion ( activeness ) and now even at rest is a clear indication of some seriousness , because of age factor ( 53 years ). Yes this pain may be due to "ANGINA PECTORIS" a precursor of heart disease .
2nd reason of such pain may be due to hyper acidity or gastritis ( gas formation in layman terms) . Diagnosis can be confirmed by upper G I endoscopy. Also avoid greasy , oily , spicy foods . Also take some antacid but if pain is severe , you may need drugs like proton pump inhibitor like pantaloc-D .
The next reason of such pain may be due to menopause syndrome ( as this is mild degree pain and age is also an indication of menopause) . Diagnosis can be confirmed by hormonal estimation .
Since you are obese patient , 53 years old , so first deal for menopause and then consult a " Cardiologist " and get his opinion.
Hope this will help.
