What Causes Intermenstrual Bleeding After Medical Abortion?
Hi I had a medical abortion using mifepristone and misoprostol and I had regular bleeding after taking this for 3-4 days. After 30 days I had my normal period but after this just in 10 days I again had a bleeding for 1 day and then again after 2 days. Is there something to worry about?
Hello dear Understand your concern First thing you have to rule out is retain product of pregnancy. Consult the gynecologist and get the done USG scan. If retain product will be there then should be treated by misoprostol or by D & C. Other causes of inter menstrual bleeding: Dysfunctional uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance, thyroid disorder, Ovarian cyst/ poly cystic ovarian syndrome, fibroid, polyp, endometrial hyperplasia, diabetes and OCP pill use
If bleeding persists then consult the gynecologist and diagnose above causes by following investigations: Hormonal profile, blood sugar, ovarian follicle study, transvaginal USG and endometrial hyperplasia. Management will depend on the causes. Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Sagar
