HI Doctor... last month it was diagnosed as i have thyroid disorder. the then tsh value was 99.30. i used thyronorm 50mcg for 3 weeks and again tested. now the value is 13.40. now my doctor suggested for thyronorm 75mcg. is it necessary for the increase in dose?? are there any precautions to check on these values. regards.. Rhea..

doctor1 MD

Hello,
I understand your situation and i find your question very reasonable. You are diagnosed with hypothyroidism 3 weeks ago and started 50 mcg of thyronorm. In general to judge for the efficiency of a certain dose of thyronorm we do wait 6 weeks. Your TSH level is improved, but 3 weeks are not...

my son is 20 years old and he is on synthroid and saizen. Yesterday I took him to a doctor because he s had lower back pain for a couple of days. The doctor prescribed Naprosyn 500mg for pain twice daily when needed and cyclobenzaprine (10mg) for 10 days at bedtime. My son took only one dose of cyclobenzaprine last night and today he went to school and was feeling very dizzy. I brought him home and did some some research about this drug and found out that people who have a thyroid disorder should not take this medication. Of course I called the doctor immediately to advise her of her mistake so it won t happen to anybody else. Is it dangerous if he only took one? What should I do?
