What Causes Increase In TSH Levels During Pregnancy?

My F4 is 1.1 but my TSH went from 2.06 before pregnancy to 3.25 at 5 weeks pregnant. I am now 8 weeks pregnant and TSH is still 3.25 and we have increased my dosage of synthroid. Should I be concerned that this was not done earlier as far as fetal brain development?

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. TSH level more than 2.5 in first trimester is considered to be deranged, and levothyroxine is started, dose adjusted according to the TSH levels.
However, TSH level of 3.25 is not too high to cause mental abnormalities in fetus, and moreover, fetus receives thyroid hormone supply from the mother till 9 weeks of pregnancy. If your FT4 levels are normal, then the thyroid hormone supply will be adequate for the fetus for brain development.
I suggest you to not to worry and now onwards, get levothyroxine doses according to TSH levels.
