What causes heart pounding despite normal BP and heart rate?

What could make my heart feel like it's pounding hard in my chest? Blood pressure and heart rate are normal. I've had 2 stress echo tests a year apart and everything looked good on both. I am 51, female, in menopause, and was dealing with anxiety this past summer/fall.

Hi,

Anxiety itself can cause a feeling of heart pounding. Other than that certain abnormal heart beats like PAC and PVC can cause the same sensation. If you can get an ECG done when you have the feeling it helps a lot to diagnose. 24-hour ambulatory monitoring of heart rate can be used as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Good Evening, I had a few concerns about some recent symptoms I have been experiencing for the last 4 to 6 weeks. I am 30 years of age, 5 2 and 119 pounds. I have a higher then normal cholesterol level of 193. When researching I have read that anything under 200 is considered normal although the docs do consider it to be a bit high. I have also experienced low blood sugar in the past off and on for about 5 years. I seemed to have low blood sugar issues since I caught the virus mononucleosis in 2007. Honestly, my body has never been the same. I have been waking up at night about an hour after falling asleep with rapid heart rate, higher then normal BP of usually 130 to 145 over 93 and heart rate can get up to 110 to 113 at times. I start shaking all over and become weak all over and lightheaded. I feel cold in my hands and feet. I also have a lot of numbness in my hands and feet while lying down and while sleeping at night. this symptom has been going on over a year. I have been to the ER and was told I had a heart arrhythmia but nothing serious whatsoever. I also had a low Rdw of 12.2 blood test and low phosphorus of 2.1. I also have a drop in blood pressure when lying down. sometimes is goes as low as 87/44 but heart rate is within normal range. These recent blood tests were the only tests that were low. I did have an ekg which was normal and chest x-ray which was normal as well. I was recently thinking maybe I had a thyroid issue or endocrine issue. I have had basic thyroid tests done and they were in normal range but my direct T4 seemed to me to be on the lower end of normal. When I told a Nurse from the ER my recent thyroid test results, He said it was on the low normal side. Do I seem to have some kind of heart issue and why do I have these episodes at night? Sometimes the episodes are so severe I have to get into the shower just to shock my body. It can be very scary. Any suggestions or input you can provided me with would be greatly appreciated.

I have hypothyroidism , but my resting heartrate has been 125 and 138 at my last two appointments. My blood pressure is always good 118/80. My dr wants to put me on Lopressor. Will this make my blood pressure drop even more? And one more question, if I have hypothroidism shouldn t my heartrate be slow? What would cause this?

I take Lisinipril and BP runs 140/90 p 70 normally. Was at work today and suddenly noticed I was feeling my heartbeat. BP was 170/80 p 49. No other symptoms. At home now, BP and pulse normal and feel fine. Anything to be concerned about I am 61, male, non smoker/drinker. Normal weight and exercise regularly

. Firstly, I m a 46 yr. old female whose been under an extreme amount of stress lately and having some trouble sleeping the entire night, often waking in a sweat. I’m having hunger pains more often than usually lately and a sweet tooth I can’t seem to curb. I then become very lethargic after I eat no matter the amount of food, i.e. full meal or snack, and most of the time I have to take a nap or I find myself nodding off at work. I ve been also experiencing breakouts of acne about twice a month. I have a history of a hyperthyroid and my family has a history of diabetes, but my blood sugar seems to test normal. Could this be the onset of menopause or possibly Type II Diabetes?

Hi I am 47 years old female . I usually wake up in middle of night with palpitation and then just armpit sweating. My hormone levels are normal . This happens mostly 10 days before starting period but I do sometime have other times than premenstural too. I take 20 mg propranolol BD and just 1 mg Diazepam before bed. It is like a waking up by a shock and very scary. My heart was checked and it is normal. My gynecologist prescribed low dose of estrogen but I haven t used it yet. Is these sign of premenopausal ?
