Hello,

Since the last 3 months you are suffering from pain in the flanks. You have discomfort while urinating and are bloated. You also have history of having kidney problem every now and then. You are suggested to stay well hydrated, take plenty of water to help detox the kidney naturally. You are experiencing bloating, bloating can occur due to reduced kidney function. Discomfort while urinating is indicative of UTI, when UTI spreads to the kidneys it causes flank pain and bloating.

Get clinically examined by a Urologist, get urine culture (R/E and C/S) done. You will be treated with antibiotics if there is infection in the urine. If blood is found in the urine it may be indicative of kidney stones. You will be advised to get CT done to confirm diagnosis. You will be accordingly treated with antibiotics, NSAIDS or be given opioids via intravenous or oral routes for severe kidney pain. If kidney stones are detected you may be recommended surgery. To get rid of bloating avoid trigger food, do not skip meals, avoid taking fizzy drinks, take appropriate portions and add fiber to your diet.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
