Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, primary viral pharyngitis may convert into bacterial infection. So you may use antibiotics according to doctor advice. Give him hot water only. Use salt water gargling if possible. Use paracetamol for fever control. If symptoms not improved please consult your Pediatrician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
