What Causes Fever, IGA Deficiency, Sore Throat And Protein In Urine?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... my son has an iga deficiency and is always ill with bad throats and fever last few days he hit his head at school.wa taken to hospital and urine was tested they found protein in urine.i took him back to doctor who tested hiim again and protein trace showed up then he sent the sample to hospital.it came back as albumin 4. what can this all mean hes no called us back to have bloods and more urine test

The exact cause of IgA deficiency is unknown, however it seems to be genetic in origin that means this condition pass down through the families. In rare cases, it can be caused by certain medicines. Immunoglobulin A (IgA) is an antibody found in the lining of the respiratory and digestive tracts. It is also found in saliva, tears, and breast milk. It acts as an important first line of defense against invasion of pathogenic micro-organisms.
Children with IgA deficiency are predisposed to recurrent respiratory and gastrointestinal infections, as well as allergic and autoimmune diseases. Based on the information given your son seems to have developed autoimmune disease involving the kidneys as reflected in the form of presence of albumin in his urine. Consult his doctor for further evaluation and treatment.
