What Causes Fainting With Vomiting?

I m curious to know if there is any connection between fainting and vomiting? I m a middle aged female who has experienced this since childhood. Anytime I become nauseated and vomit I sumultaneously get quite faint and have actually fainted, losing consciousness for less than 30 seconds. This does not necessarily occur only after an extended bout of vomiting. The fainting can occur at the initial onset of the vomiting.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Fainting can be due to a lot of reasons which need to have a proper clinical evaluation, examination, neurological evaluation, relevant investigations like MRI of ears and brain. Nausea, vomiting can be secondary to any internal problems and usually a reflex activity of the body. Or can be primary and needs the same to find out the cause. Once all the factors are diagnosed for and once a proper diagnosis is done then a specific treatment can be started.

Also watch for anemia, diabetes, malaise and such problems. Stress and anxiety can instigate or enhance the symptoms. Do not be alone anytime as you need assistance during such attacks. Avoid being at heights, near water bodies and fire. Complete the courses as would be advised.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
