What Causes Discomfort In Ovaries While Laughing And After Having Sex?

Hi im a 20 year old female. For the past month ive been having some discomfort in what i assume is my ovaries. Its on both sides about 2 inches aboce my hips. The discomft occurs when i laugh, when i have to use the restroom, and after sex. I have the birthcontrol Implanon and i wonder if that has anything to do with it? However ive had it since may 2010 and have never had discomfort like this.

Hello,

Less likely that implanting could cause any such pain. But if the pain is severe it is advisable to meet a doctor nearby to know the exact cause of the pain and get treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rishma Lakhani, OB & GYN Specialist
