What Causes Discharge From The Ear?

My six-month old granddaughter woke this morning with drainage in her ear. She saw a doctor yesterday because she had a 101.5 fever. He said give her tylenol and liquids and just watch her. He checked her ears but didn t say anything. Also she screams when her mother wipes the crusty stuff from her ear. She has a doctor s appointment (6-month check-up) tomorrow evening. Shoud I be concerned or should I wait for to see the doctor tomorrow? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to an ear infection.
I suggest to give her Tylenol for the fever.
I also suggest using an eardrop with antibiotic to treat the infection.
If the symptoms continue, you should see a pediatrician for a specific treatment.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
