General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

You are a known case of urinary tract infection undergoing treatment with Macrodantin, explainiing the possible cause of pain in the left power side of abdomen.
Alternating diarrhea and constipation should be investigated by colonoscopy, CT scan and tests of blood, stool and urine to rule out cancer of large bowel as this is one of the first symptom one get and ignored by taking symptomatic treatment for months.
Bowel and bladder conditions can cause referred back pain or can have a local reason which a Doctor can find on clinical evaluation.
Previous keyhole surgery may not be related to the present symptoms ad will be evaluated by your Doctor.
Also take plenty of liquids orally.
Avoid the foods and beverages that increase the diarrhea or constipation.
Stop abusing the laxatives if you are taking in large dosages without titration.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon.
