What Causes Constipation With Weight Loss?

I am 74 y/o male who's been losing weight over the past 3 months. Total weight loss has been 3 kilos for 3 months. I have been constipated and my bowel movements have been irregular but my appetite has never changed and I still eat pretty well. I don't have any abdominal complaints. What could be causing this? I also eat fiber-rich foods but to no avail, I'm still constipated.

Hello,

You may be suffering from chronic constipation may be due to a sedentary lifestyle or lack of fiber intake or increased consumption of processed carbohydrates or decreased bowel movements etc.

Eat a high fiber diet, drink plenty of water, avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

Use Metamucil or Benefiber for stool bulk formation. Use syrp lactulose.

If symptoms not improved please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
