What Causes Chest Pains And Rhythm Irregularity?

My husband had a triple by-pass not quite 2 years ago and now he is having chest pains and rythum irregularity. He says sometime it feels like an elephant sitting on his chest. When he uses his nitro it goes away. He has ischemic heart and diabetes from Agent Orange. When they did the by-passes they told him his widow maker was 48% blocked. Could this be the widow maker?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi There

I read the details provided by you in yuour husbands case, having a chest heaviness after 2 years of surgery is not a good sign and above that you are also telling that the discomfort gets relieved by taking anti anginals which clearly leads us to think about some ischemia (reduced blood supply to some parts of the heart) which is ongoing.

You need to get one ECG done as the rhythm abnormality you talking about could possibly be an AF. I would like to suggest you that approach to your cardiologist as early possible as he is going to need a check Angiogram to confirm whether the graft used during surgery are patent or affected.

Wish you Good Luck
