What Causes Chest Discomfort?

Hi I have been having anxiety this whole night, but just an hour ago, I started getting pressure in my throat. I ignored it, but it has gotten much worse. It feels like sharp pain, as well as pressure in my throat and upper chest. Almost like trapped gas? I am not sure if I need to go to the ER or not

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
You are mostly having stress and anxiety induced GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).
It is because of laxity of gastroesophageal sphincter. Due to this, the acid of the stomach tends to come up in the esophagus and cause the symptoms of chest tightness, central chest pain and gaseous feeling.
So avoid stress and tension. Start proton pump inhibitors and prokinetic drugs.
Consult psychiatrist and get done counseling sessions, try to identify stressor in your life and start working on its solution.
You may need anxiolytic drugs too.
So if you are improving with all these than no need to go to ER. Better to relax and keep calm.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
