What Causes Brown Oil Discharge With Stool?

i went to the bathroom earlier and had brown oil along with my stool. the stool was normal, was just this oily substance that scared me. it has been almost a year since i ate at a restaurant, however, 48 hours ago i did eat at Captain Ds. i had chicken, not fish, but have been told that they fry everything in fish oil. could this be the cause of the oil? my stomach was making noises all day today before this happened. but other than that i have no other symptoms. im really scared. please help. thank you.

Hello,

The common cause of oil discharge in stool is malabsorption from various issues as celiac disease, cystic fibrosis, pancreatic disorders or others.

You need systemic work up with basic lab work up, colonoscopy for precise evaluation. Till that time turn your diet to strictly veg, bland, vegan type.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
