What Causes Brown Blood Clots After Starting Depo Shot?
Hi. I recently started the depo shot (after having a normal pap test and negative pegnancy test) i got the shot on day 1 of my period (which had become increasingly irregular). My period stopped after 3 light days and has not come back. Three or so weeks later I had some brownish clots (looked like shredded tissue) that i am sure were old blood, but they have continued since that point. It isnt enough to know about until i wipe. Should i return to my doctor or is this just an adjustment to the hormones? Thank you.
Irregular bleeding, spotting and abdominal pain can occur during the first three months of depo shot since your body needs time to adjust to your hormonal levels.
Rarely in some women, these symptoms can persist even upto a year.Pain killers like Ibuprofen has proven to be effective by reducing pain and heavy bleeding in some women.
I would suggest you to visit your gynaecologist if heavy bleeding continues for more than 14 days since excess bleeding can lead to anemia which should be prevented.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
