What Causes Blood In Stools Of A Child?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...My four year old daughter has had blood on the outside of her stool for three days now. She s not constipated and her stools are sort of soft. so i dont know what to do. is it serious or something harmless

Hello,

By what you say I feel that this is bacillary dysentery or bacteria-induced stomach infection.

She will require antibiotics for it and this is a prescription drug. The drug of choice would be oral Safexim given for a period of five days.

I suggest you approach your paediatrician or primary care physician regarding this, please.
