Hi,

Tardyferon contains ferrous sulphate that is used in the treatment of iron deficiency anemia. But like other medications this medication has some side effects of its own. Taking ferrous sulphate can change the color of your stool to grayish black or dark green. This is common side effect of taking iron tablets like ferrous sulphate which is usually the harmless result of unabsorbed iron. So, anyone can notice black colored stools during taking ferrous sulphate that is quite common.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

General & Family Physician Dr. Aaron Branch's  Response
Hello,

Actually ferrous sulfate can cause your stools to be black. It would be expected to continue as long as you are taking the iron pills. If you still have black stools after stopping the iron, you should have your stool check for any blood.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
