Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my lipase level just came back at 62 which isn't too high but I still have and have had abdominal pain. Cat Scan didn't show too much, I think she said full or inflamed pancreas. She next wants to do a scope. She isn't worried at all and neither am I but why the pain?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Your history is so short telling only the pain without any details about it but the available history indicates that you have pain in abdomen and the CT scan has shown the pancreatitis. Hence the probable causes can be as follows: Pancreatitis. Gall bladder inflammation caused by blockage of common bile duct due to pancreatic edema. Acid peptic disease. Inflamed colon or intestines and so on. For us to know the details following things are to be done: contrast enhanced MRCP to define the the possible cause in liver, gall bladder and pancreas. Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon and Gastroenterologist may help further to get the exact cause so that a proper management can be done. It is highly advisable to get admitted so that a proper clinical notes and the findings, the progress and investigations from time to time helps to get an exact cause and treated accordingly.
