What Causes 1:80 Positive Result In Widal Test?

Hi,
I am Rajkumar, 23 years old 178cm height and 55 kg weight. I had typhoid first time 2 years back and at that time I haven't taken proper antibiotic. Last year again I suffered from typhoid and the widal test result was 1:360 and got treated with proper antibiotic(epinox or efinax i am not sure about that IV medicine) I took it for 5 days (twice a day). I got cured and now after 8 months I got severe back pain and just checked the widal test and the result is 1:80 positive. Why it is still in my blood and often I am getting sick? Please advice.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Antibody titre does not fall to zero and will remain at levels below 1:160
2. A level below 1:160 of H or O antigen is always considered negative
3. 1:80 is not a positive Widal test.
4. If you are doubtful, check for rising titres.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
