What Can Be Done To Remove Sun Burn Marks On Forehead?

Hi it's Charlea,
Today is is Sunday and on Thursday/Friday I was out in the sun without sunscreen on and I got burnt and on Saturday night it started to swell and tonight on Sunday it has swelled a lot on my forehead, so I put ice on it and it dropped down to the corner of both of my eyes! What can I to get rid of this and why did this happen? I'm so embarressed

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Acute sunburn can happen due to excessive exposure to outdoor sun, specially to UVB component of sun ( which is the inciting agent).

Acute sunburn can be very painful.

I usually ask my patients of acute sunburn to take a short course (5-7 days) of oral steroids.

Along with this application of topical moderately potent steroid cream like fluticasone also helps.

An OTC painkiller like ibuprofen helps with the pain part.

Of course, i reinforce use of a broad spectrum sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) throughout the day in my patients.
