What Are The Side Effects Of Using HCG Diet?

I had a dvt about 3 years ago and had to go off the pill, I only took warfarin for about 6 months and the doctor took me off of it. I would like to know if I can use the hcg diet? I am 5 9 and weigh around 260, I am 36 years old and am also a smoker.

Hello, you must be excited now that you have decided to make lifestyle changes. Now, you know you cannot pop a pill or use a fad diet to keep weight off that was lost very quickly in a manner that does not teach you to eat for life not to starve and get some weight off quickly and then go back and put it right back on because the eating habits have changed. You asked if you could use the HCG diet and my opinion is absolutely not! Start a walking routine . Yes, I know you weigh 260 and don't want to go out, but you must start somewhere, the first place being to ask your doctor what you are allowed to do.

Secondly, to lose weight permanently you must relearn your way of eating. It is through the combination of exercise and diet manipulation that will assist you in taking that weight off and treating your other conditions while losing weight. Ready to try? Follow a 1200 kcal diet. It is simple. Two cups of fat free or low fat milk or milk substitue with calcium or yogurt, 4 servings from the grain group, two from the starch vegetable list, all the free vegies you want, 2 fresh fruits, and fat low in saturated fat. Make your own salad dressings with virgin olive oil. Get an Exchange Booklet (used for diabetics and weight control) to understand my diet distribution.
Good luck to you! Kathryn Shattler, Ms,RDN
