Cranberry is most commonly used for the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs). Cranberry is relatively safe for most people when taken by mouth appropriately. Its use is known to affect stomach by causing low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria) and Inflammation of the stomach lining (Atrophic gastritis). Since you have consumed it over several years, it could have contributed to the development of inflammation of stomach and esophagus.
