Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Pap smear is a screening test. An abnormal Pap test does not necessarily mean cancer. There are many causes for abnormal Pap test results, including infection, inflammation, and changes related to menstrual cycle. Let your doctor evaluate if further testing is necessary.

In case of mild cervical dysplasia, no treatment is required but follow up is recommended, because there is a 12% to 16% chance of progression to more severe dysplasia. HPV Infection must be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vandana Khare
