What Are The Different Types Of Metoprolol?

Hi! Just trying to find out if there is more than one type of metoprolol (beta blocker). I have been taking Metoprolol Tartrate. Tonight when I opened my refill bottle the pills are listed as metoprolol ER and the tablet is shaped oblong (vs round) and has an "m" on it but no "18", instead it has a double triangle on the other side?

There are different types of betablockers. metoprolol is a type of betablocker. others may include atenolol, propranolol, cardevilol etc. So understand that metoprolol is a beta blocker

now understand that there are many ways a medicine can be given- injection tablets etc. now the pharmaceuticals play games. what they do is that they make a tablet in such a way that it works for a long time, say like for a day. this is called extended release (ER). so difference in the name

the dose of the medicine will be different as per the concentration of the medicine in the tablet

and finally, different companies sell the same medicine by different names- metolar, met-xr, metpro are all the names of same drug by different companies- all are metoprolol. and each company has different symbols that u indicated

i hope that helps
i tried to put it as simply as i can
