Watery Swelling On Inner Side Of Foot, Painful While Walking. Opinion?

My partner has a watery swelling on the inner side of his foot, at the side of the arch. This appeared on Tuesday and may be connected to the long walk we did on Monday. Today, there is swelling on h top of TH foot, above TH arch. The swellings are not painful to touch but it hurts when he puts his foot down to walk. We are not sure what this could be and I he should rest the foot. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks. Ann

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us

Watery swelling on inner side of foot could be due to bursitis , tendonitis or irritation of underlying connective tissue. after inflammation, these tissues releases inflammatory fluid.A detailed clinical examination along with appropriate investigations are needed to establish a diagnosis.
I suggest you to give rest to the foot and consult your doctor for proper management.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
