Trouble With Walking And Talking Since Atriple Bypass And Valve Replacement. Normal?

My 78 year old mom had atriple bypass and valve replacement . Before surgery she was active and articulate. Since surgery she has trouble walking and has trouble talking. Sometimes she will just grunt other times she answer where u can understand her. I have played games with her and her mind seems alright. Is this normal and can she come out of it?

Dear patient,

One of the most common complications of aortic valve replecements are strokes, which can be subtle at times. I would recommend seeing a neurologist who can order a CT scan of the head, stroke protocol, after performing a through neurologic exam, including a mental exam test
