Treatment For Pain Swallowing After Injury?

My son ran into me and I think he's bruised my trachea. It hurts to swallow and I can't turn my head to the side because it hurts the area. Kind of feels like when you're sick and have a sore throat.
Anything I can do about this? how long should the pain last? Should I see a doctor?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The pain may last 1 to 4 days usually but it would be decreasing in its intensity during this time period.

You may want to consider the use of cool liquids to help reduce any swelling that may have occurred. In addition the use of anti inflammatory pain medication may be helpful.
This includes medications such as naproxen, aspirin, ibuprofen, cataflam.

I hope this helps
