Traces Of WBC And Protein After Urine Culture, No Bacterial Infection. Prescribed Antibiotics. Why Does She Get Constipated?
Hi, my daughter is 4yrs old and recently when we took a urine dip stick test, the doctor found traces of wbc and protein. They sent her urine for culture and prescribed a course of antibiotics. The urine culture results showed no bacterial infection. After finishing the antibiotics we again went to do the urine dip stick test. But once again it shows traces of wbc and protein. Both the times that we took theurine test my daughter wass down with cold and fever. Otherwise there are no other ssymptoms and she seems to be ok. What could be the reason for the traces of wbc and protein in the urine ? She gets constipated once in a while.

Hi, In UTI there will be high grade fever with chills and rigors. Since your child is not suffering from chills and fever she may not be suffering from UTI. As trace of WBC and protein may be due to contamination.
Give her plenty of fluids every day and get done USG abdomen and pelvis, RFT and TSH level once to rule out any abdominal pathology and hypothyroidism.
